Dem strategist Paul Mitchell: "It's valuable real estate in a campaign. If it's a teacher vs. a tax collector vs. an incumbent Assembly member, a lot of people are just going to say, 'I believe in teachers.'"
CA Target Book publisher Allan Hoffenblum: "On the Republican side, the best ballot designation you can have is 'businessman' or 'businesswoman' or 'small business owner'" (Sanders, Sacramento Bee, 4/2).
