Weddington Mayor Pro Tem Dan Barry (R) launched his first TV ad on April 10 (release, 4/10).

Hob Knobbed

Charlotte Councilor Andy Dulin (R) "lacks the name identification of some rivals and the resources of others. But he knows what to do." Dulin: "We're cranking up the volume knob on Andy."
Dulin "touts his support of the NASCAR Hall of Fame and hiring Police Chief Rodney Monroe, but has been criticized for being cozy with developers." Dulin "is running as a conservative. Unlike some, he has declined to sign a pledge not to raise taxes. But he says taxes are off the table as a way of reducing the federal deficit, at least until he gets 'a read on where things truly are.'"
Dulin "also does something few candidates do: He puts his cellphone number on his business card." Dulin: "It's one of the things I've learned on council. It's easier for me to serve people if they call me directly" (Morrill, Charlotte Observer, 4/9).
