Meng roles out endorsements from Hispanic leaders.

Assemb. Grace Meng’s (D) campaign on April 5 announced endorsements "to demonstrate her backing in the Latino community." Meng received endorsements from Rep. Nydia Velasquez (D-07), ex-Bronx Borough Pres. Fernando Ferrer (D), NYC Councilwoman Julissa Ferreras (D), state Sen. José Peralta (D) and Assemb. Francisco Moya (D) (Campbell, "Politicker," New York Observer, 4/5).
Last week, Meng picked up an endorsement from the Italian-American PAC.
Rep. Gary Ackerman (D): "None of these candidates are well known districtwide. ... Everybody has to win beyond their base."
Meng: "Our district that I'm running to represent in Washington, D.C., is one of the most diverse congressional districts in the entire nation. All of us who live here are part of a common immigrant tradition" (Grossman, Wall Street Journal, 4/8).

NYC Councilwoman Liz Crowley (D) on April 5 announced the endorsement of the NYPD's Captains Endowment Association (Katz, "The Daily Politics," New York Daily News, 4/5).
