The Staten Island Conservative
Party and the Brooklyn Conservative Party on April 3 "announced that they
have endorsed" Rep. Michael Grimm (R).
Staten Island Conservative
sec. Harold Wagner: "He's done a fantastic job since he's been
in there," Harold Wagner, secretary of the Island party, said outside
Borough Hall. "We should give him another shot. We feel like he's going to
do even more for Staten Island in the future. We're going to see better things
from him."
In 2010, the Staten Island
Conservative Party endorsed ex-Rep. Mike McMahon (D) over Grimm. But
Brooklyn leaders "refused to agree." Because the CD includes parts of
two counties, the decision was left to the state Conservative Party,
"which gave Grimm the ballot line."
Grimm:
"When you put those two together, you have an overwhelming amount of
support and dedication. Between my work ethic and the dedication and passion of
the volunteers, we're going to have a very, very strong campaign."
Grimm "has also been
endorsed by the Independence Party, which went with McMahon in 2010" (Wrobleski, Staten Island Advance, 4/4).
