Touts war chest ahead of FEC deadline

Ex-state Rep. Elizabeth Esty (D) announced a first-quarter fundraising haul of over $360,000 and cash on hand in excess of $800,000. Campaign officials expressed confidence that Esty will have "the resources and the organization to defeat [House Speaker Chris] Donovan in the Democratic primary." Esty also faces Dan Roberti in the Democratic primary, and five Republicans are vying for their party's nomination to fill the seat being vacated by Rep. Chris Murphy (D) (Altimari,Hartford Courant, 4/2).
